What is Spark Plug?
Our Smart Plug technology works using a small dongle that plugs into your analogue powerbase and an app that you can download for free on any Android or iOS smart device.
Together, they give you full control of your slot car races from your phone or tablet – a unique upgrade from a traditional wired controller. Experience advanced racing features and enhanced gameplay with this exciting Scalextric innovation.
With wireless control, you simply move the slider on the screen up or down to increase or decrease speed. To stop, you just remove your finger.
And you can customise your screen too. You can add a profile picture, choose your favourite race-inspired music, and personalise your background, button layout, and maximum speed, making every race completely tailored to your preferences.
Versus Mode
If you have more than one Spark Plug Wireless Dongle, you can unlock Versus Mode. This gives you the chance to interfere with your opponent’s settings, temporarily restricting their speed at tactical points in the race. But beware – they can do the same to you!
From time to time, your app will notify you that its time for a pitstop. Drive into the pit lane and take your break as quickly as you can, so you can get back to racing.

Things to note
Spark Plug is not compatible with Scalextric Digital powerbases, Micro Scalextric or ARC powerbases. This is an analogue upgrade only.

Compatibility
We have recently discovered there may be some compatibility issues with certain Scalextric cars and the Spark Plug Wireless Dongle.
This is due to a particular Scalextric slimline motor being used in a minority of our cars, mostly in single seaters and smaller cars. This motor draws a greater current than our standard Scalextric motor, and this additional current combined with the weight of the car, stronger Magnatraction and overall track length can cause the dongle to temporarily shut down.
Scalextric cars produced from Spring 2021 onwards have a new motor that will not be affected by this. It will be stated on the packaging and our website whether this car is compatible with the Spark Plug Wireless Dongle.
For cars produced before this time, we have a list to show which cars carry the Scalextric Slimline motor and therefore might not be compatible with the Spark Plug Wireless Dongle. We apologise for any inconvenience.
