James Bond and Scalextric have always had a special relationship but how many of these sets do you remember?

007 Set

Released in 1967, this set featured an Aston Martin GT and a Mercedes 190SL Sports, with 569cm of track and accessories such as straw bales, oil drums, banking wedges, marker cones and hand throttles. It had a cool feature that came into play when the Aston Martin rammed into the back of the Mercedes - a spring was released, causing the bad guy to roll off the tracks. When the roles were reversed, the bulletproof screen popped up in the back of the Aston Martin. And when the bad guy passed a certain point on the track, he was ejected out of the Mercedes roof.

This set has become a collector’s item and can be found selling for over £3000 on popular auction sites.

Quantum of Solace Set

When Micro Scalextric was launched in 1994, a James Bond set was not far behind. But then the license went quiet for some time. Eventually, in 2008, we were treated to this limited edition set, which included Aston Martin DBS and Alfa Romeo 159 slot cars. The set-up allowed four different cars to race at the same time and had a figure-of-eight circuit. The cars were fitted with digital chips and had Xenon effect headlights and magnatraction.

Casino Royale Set

This limited edition set, released in 2010, featured a large figure-of-eight track with a bridge for the super-resistant Aston Martin DB5 and Aston Martin DBS to race on. The cars were fitted with magnatraction technology,

SkyFall Set

Based on the movie of the same name, the SkyFall set in 2013 included an Aston Martin DB5 and a black Range Rover. The 532cm track included a chicane, ramps and a crossroads.

In the same year, Scalextric released a Micro Scalextric version of the SkyFall set, but this included an Aston Martin DB5 and an Aston Martin DBS. The 370cm of track could be set up in five different ways.

Spectre

In 2015, Scalextric released this set based on the popular Spectre film. It included the iconic Aston Martin DB10 and a Jaguar C-X75, a figure-of-eight track, ramps, side-swipes and a crossover. The cars even had working lights.

Micro Scalextric No Time to Die Set

With Daniel Craig announcing his retirement from Bond with this film, this Micro Scalextric set in 2020 was the perfect tribute. The slot cars were an Aston Martin DB5 and a Jaguar XF and the 4.08m track could be configured in nine different ways, with potential for a loop-the-loop and a half pipe.

Current sets

Head over to the Scalextric shop and these are the James Bond sets you’ll find right now. These designs are more generic, making them ideal for anyone who is looking forward to the next James Bond film release and needs something to entertain them in the meantime!

Your two favourite Aston Martins go head-to-head in this Scalextric battle. Which one is the fastest? With 532cm of track in a figure-of-eight style, this set includes a crossroad, side-swipe track pieces and working headlights.

This smaller version of the James Bond race set features 3.5m of track which can be configured in nine different layouts, with a ramp and booby trap piece. Yet again, the Aston Martin DB5 and V8 battle it out for first place.
