Team Scalextric’s Adrian Norman and Patrick Mortimer have edged up the MINI Challenge leaderboard after last weekend’s Brands Hatch race.
After being stuck in 5th place in class, Adrian Norman who works for the Scalextric brand edged closer to the top three and is now firmly placed 4th in class.
The latest MINI Challenge race was held at Kent’s Brands Hatch circuit and marked a new beginning after race officials allowed all cars to use Pirelli slick tyres. The weather was dry and sunny, perfect conditions for the Team’s brand new slick tyres that allowed Adrian to smash his personal best lap time bringing it to less than 60 seconds, something all of the Team were excited about!
The weekend saw Team Scalextric compete in three races. Race 3 saw Adrian forced into the pits because of a puncture. The team’s support performed a super-fast tyre change that only added to the mounting excitement to the last race of the weekend.
Both Patrick and Adrian improved their techniques at Brands Hatch with Patrick finishing 9th in class, 15th overall and novice Adrian finishing 4th in class and 9th overall.
Adrian said; “Brands Hatch was a turning point for us as a team and for me personally. Coming in under the 60 second mark on my lap time was a fantastic achievement. Moving up to 4th place in class was brilliant for us too and now we’ve finished race seven, it means I can finally remove my novice status ‘X’ sticker!”
“We had a huge amount of support for the team and the brand at Brands. Racing on home turf in Kent was exciting!”
