The competition was intense between the top teams in 1995 and there were plenty of new teams and drivers coming onto the tracks. It really was an exciting time to be a racing fan, as there were so many potential champions.

BMW definitely thought they were in with a shot for the title with their 320i Super Touring car and David Brabham behind the wheel. The team had good reason to be confident, having won the Championships in 1991, 1992 and 1993. And the 320i was a great contender, with its purpose-built engine boasting 300hp, rear-wheel-drive balance and precise steering.

And David Brabham might have been new to the team that year, but he was no stranger to race success. He’d been part of the winning Nissan team at Spa 24 Hours in 1991, the Macau Grand Prix Winner in 1989 and British Formula 3 Champion in 1989.

But 1995 did not turn out to be his year, with Brabham’s car coming 16^th in the Championship standings. Despite the BMW 320i being an incredibly competitive car with lots of promise, it was no match for the Renaults, Volvos and Vauxhalls on the track.
